Meet Dr. Sylvia

Dr. Sylvia Nnamdi-Enwerem is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a Doctor of Nursing Practice. She founded Prudent Haven Behavioral Health, PLLC to provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management grounded in careful listening, clear explanation, and evidence-based treatment.

Dr. Sylvia's nursing education spans three continents, with over 13 years of nursing experience across medical, medical-surgical, observation, inpatient psychiatric, and outpatient mental health settings. That range of experience shapes how she approaches psychiatric care: with attention to the whole person, not just a single symptom or diagnosis.

She holds board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), the highest level of clinical preparation available in nursing practice.

Her Approach to Care

Listening, then partnering

Every evaluation starts with understanding your specific symptoms, history, and goals — not a generic checklist. Dr. Sylvia considers physical health, mental health, life circumstances, and treatment history together, since these rarely exist in isolation.

Where there are choices to make about medications or treatment approaches, Dr. Sylvia discusses risks, benefits, alternatives, and your preferences before deciding together. Your treatment plan is collaborative — you're a partner in decisions about your care.

"My goal is not simply to prescribe medication, but to help patients better understand their mental health, make informed decisions, and build a treatment plan that supports long-term well-being."

Whole-Person Perspective

Beyond a single symptom

Dr. Sylvia's background in both medical and psychiatric nursing supports a broad view of mental health care. Physical health, medications, sleep, stress, relationships, environment, and life transitions can all affect mental wellness — and Dr. Sylvia's evaluation process takes that wider context into account when building a psychiatric treatment plan. This does not mean she independently treats medical conditions outside her psychiatric scope of practice; where a medical concern arises, she can help coordinate with your other healthcare providers.

Why Prudent Haven Was Founded

A calm, respectful place to seek help

Prudent Haven Behavioral Health, PLLC was founded around a simple idea: psychiatric care should be calm, clear, and respectful. The name reflects both ideas at the center of the practice — Prudent, careful and evidence-grounded clinical judgment, and Haven, a safe, respectful place to seek help. The practice is built to grow — adding services and providers over time — without ever compromising that standard of care.
