Mood Disorders

Mood disorders involve significant, sustained changes in mood that affect functioning and well-being.

  • Major Depressive Disorder — persistent low mood, loss of interest, and related symptoms.
  • Persistent Depressive Disorder — a longer-lasting, lower-grade form of depression.
  • Bipolar I Disorder — mood episodes that include full manic episodes.
  • Bipolar II Disorder — mood episodes involving hypomania and depression.
  • Cyclothymic Disorder — chronic, milder mood fluctuations that don't meet full criteria for bipolar disorder.
  • Adjustment Disorders — emotional or behavioral symptoms that develop in response to a specific stressor.
