Psychiatric Medication Management centered on you.
Thoughtful medication review, monitoring and follow-up, with treatment adjustments when clinically appropriate, through secure virtual care in North Dakota, Minnesota and Arizona.
Medication Management Is More Than a Prescription
Good medication care considers why treatment is being used, how it is affecting you and whether it continues to fit your clinical needs over time.
Beginning Treatment
Medication management may follow a psychiatric evaluation when medication is considered a clinically appropriate part of the treatment plan.
Reviewing Current Treatment
You may have questions about whether an existing medication is helping, causing unwanted effects or still fits your needs.
Symptoms Have Changed
Changes in mood, anxiety, attention, sleep or functioning may make it appropriate to reassess the current treatment plan.
Ongoing Follow-Up
Regular psychiatric follow-up can help monitor response, side effects and whether treatment continues to support your goals.
Medication Care Stays Connected to the Whole Picture
Psychiatric medication management is an ongoing process of evaluating treatment, monitoring response and making informed decisions together. Current and previous medications, expected benefits, potential risks, alternatives, side effects, health history, daily functioning and treatment goals may all be considered.
What We Review During Medication Management
Follow-up considers how you are feeling, how you are functioning and whether the current treatment continues to fit your clinical needs.
Current Medications
What you are taking, how it is being used and whether there have been recent changes to your medication routine.
Previous Medication Trials
Past medications, reasons they were changed and any previous benefits, limitations or unwanted effects.
Symptom Response
Whether symptoms have improved, remained the same or changed since the current treatment plan began.
Side Effects
Any unwanted effects, tolerability concerns or changes that may influence whether treatment continues to make sense.
Daily Functioning
Sleep, concentration, work, relationships, responsibilities and other areas that help show how treatment is affecting everyday life.
Health & Treatment Goals
Relevant medical factors, other treatments and what you hope to improve or maintain through psychiatric care.
The Plan Can Change as Your Needs Change
When medication is clinically appropriate, Dr. Sylvia discusses expected benefits, potential risks, alternatives and follow-up needs with you. The plan may involve continuing treatment, adjusting an existing approach, considering another option, gathering additional information or coordinating with another healthcare professional.
Medication Care Continues Beyond the First Visit
Ongoing follow-up helps evaluate whether treatment is working, whether new concerns or side effects have emerged and whether the plan still fits your current clinical needs.
Review Changes
Discuss changes in symptoms, sleep, concentration, mood, anxiety, functioning or other concerns since the previous visit.
Assess Response
Review whether treatment is helping and whether benefits are meaningful in day-to-day life.
Discuss Safety
Talk through side effects, tolerability, adherence, new health information and other factors that may affect treatment decisions.
Plan Next Steps
Decide whether continued follow-up, a change in the treatment approach, coordination or another clinical step is appropriate.
Virtual Medication Follow-Up
Medication-management visits are provided through secure video for eligible patients in North Dakota, Minnesota and Arizona. At the time of your visit, you must be physically located in a state where Dr. Sylvia is authorized to provide care.
When clinically appropriate and with your authorization, care may also involve coordination with your primary care clinician, therapist or another healthcare professional.
Insurance & Self-Pay
Insurance and self-pay options may be available. Coverage varies by individual plan, network, location, benefits and payer requirements, so current eligibility should be verified before your appointment.
